One of the most common objections I get to investing in a classic camel coat is that, "I don't have anywhere nice to go!"
I get it.
My daily routine involves going to work out, going to the grocery store, and every once in a while meeting up with a friend for lunch or dinner (if I'm lucky!)
However, there is no reason NOT to wear a classic camel coat to any of the above occasions. In fact, one of the things that I love MOST about coats is their ability to cover up whatever it is that I'm wearing underneath.
Here a few examples of just how easy it is to "dress down" that classic camel coat in a way that elevates the every day outfit that is underneath it all.
1.) Wear it over your "All Black Uniform."
There is a reason that fashion designers wear all black and it's because they know this secret as shared by Yohji Yamamoto...
“Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this: "I don’t bother you - don’t bother me."
2.) Wear it with Leggings and Sneakers
Yes, you CAN actually wear your camel coat to the gym. Toss it over your workout clothes and pair it with a scarf and great bag to continue to run your errands throughout the day.
3.) Wear it over an easy dress
Yes, you can also wear dresses even when "You don't have anywhere to go", because guess what, they are soooooo comfortable. And you can warm up your favorite comfy dress with a classic camel coat.
4.) Embrace your cozy side and pair it with MORE camel.
A good friend of mine use to tell me to "go big or go home." This same advise could apply to your classic camel coat. Rather that dressing it up, you can "go all in" with the camel color for a really cozy, soft look.
5.) Messy Hair, Don't Care
As I've mentioned before, one of the reasons I love coats so much is that they can hide whatever it is that you are wearing underneath them. But they also serve as dazzle camo for a bad hair day. A classic camel coat can elevate that messy bun and pull together just about any look, even the just-rolled-out-of bed ones.
